On the one hand, it's hardly surprising that a smaller market team that is coming off a 31st-place finish isn't featured prominently (or at all) on a national broadcast. On the other, there are arguments to be made that the franchise should be much more competitive this season, and also that the networks are shortsighted in not showcasing up-and-coming and small market organizations, who could eventually become more important players nationally. Still, there isn't necessarily a correlation between actually winning hockey games and being nationally televised frequently.
The Blue Jackets open the season on October 12 against the Philadelphia Flyers at Nationwide Arena.
