Despite two goals from Kirill Marchenko, the Blue Jackets lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Tuesday.

1st Period
Brendan Gaunce nearly gave the Jackets the lead at 10:50 when he hit the near post with a left-circle wrist shot on the rush.
Brayden Point opened the scoring at 16:31 with a left-circle one-timer thanks to a sweet turnaround feed from Nikita Kucherov who received a nice pass from Anthony Duclair.
Marchenko set a new career-high with his 22nd goal of the season and tied the game at 19:17 with a nifty wrist shot from the slot off an assist from Cole Sillinger off the rush.
The clubs were tied at one after 20 minutes with Tampa Bay taking a 10-9 advantage in shots on goal into the second period.
2nd Period
Marchenko scored his second of the game and 23rd of the season at 7:13 with a power-play wrist shot from the slot. With the primary assist on the goal, Johnny Gaudreau recorded his 500th career assist and Zach Werenski tied a Blue Jackets single-season record for assists by a defenseman with his 44th.
Steven Stamkos tied the game with a power-play one-timer from the left circle at 14:17 thanks to a fantastic cross-ice feed from Kucherov.
The teams were tied at two after 40 minutes with Tampa Bay leading 21-20 in shots on goal.
3rd Period
Cirelli gave the Lightning a 3-2 lead at 5:40 with a backhand shot from the right doorstep off a net-mouth scramble.
Stamkos doubled the Tampa Bay lead with his second of the game with a one-timer from the high slot at 5:56.
Stamkos completed his hat trick at 17:57 with an empty-net goal.
With the 5-2 loss, the Blue Jackets fell to 26-41-12.

- Boone Jenner is out.
- Adam Boqvist is out with an upper-body injury sustained on Mar. 14 against the Ottawa Senators. There is no timetable for his return.
- Yegor Chinakhov is day-to-day with an upper-body injury he suffered on Mar. 12 against the Canadiens.
- Elvis Merzlikins is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
- Kent Johnson has been placed on injured reserve with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. He underwent successful surgery on Mar. 7 and is expected to make a full recovery in six months.
- Patrik Laine entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program on Jan. 28 and will be away from the team indefinitely.
- Adam Fantilli suffered a calf laceration on Jan. 28 and is expected to miss eight weeks.
- Jake Bean is out for the season with a broken hand suffered on Apr. 4.
