The Washington Capitals have kept their goaltending plans under wraps as the playoffs approach, but the cat's now out of the bag.
A day after head coach Barry Trotz said he would wait to reveal his starting goaltender for Game 1, Philipp Grubauer told reporters that he's getting the start. It's a mild surprise, if only because the Capitals have a proven goaltender in Braden Holtby (who hasn't been at his best lately, but still a legit No. 1) with some playoff success under his belt – but there's no denying that Grubauer is the hot hand.

The Blue Jackets, meanwhile, have no goaltending controversy. Sergei Bobrovsky will start Game 1.
