Friendship drives a lot of emotions. So when Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alexander Wennberg goes up against former teammate William Karlsson, it is going to be an experience.

During a media scrum, Wennberg was asked how much he stays in touch with Karlsson now that he is on the Vegas Golden Knights.

"We try as much as we can," said Wennberg when asked about their correspondence. "Yeah, we're both busy, I mean we play hockey but every now and then you check up on each other for sure."

Karlsson was selected in the NHL expansion draft this past summer after playing with the Blue Jackets for parts of three seasons. Karlsson is currently seven points away from tying his career point total with the Blue Jackets.

While the two are close, not even Wennberg could foresee that Karlsson was going to break out as he has with 40 points total (as of this article).

"I mean if you ask anyone, I don't know if anyone would say he (Karlsson) would score 24 (now 25) goals," Wennberg said. "You know what he became hot, and he's staying hot, and that's just how it is. I mean even ask himself he's just not trying to overthink, he's out there playing."

Asking Wennberg to get into Karlsson's psyche and how Karlsson is performing so well is a question for another day.

"I mean probably not me you should ask, you should ask him (Karlsson) about that. I don't know how he feels about it. I mean obviously, I asked, but for him, it's nice for him to get an opportunity to play in Vegas. Get more minutes and an opportunity on the power play, and I mean he's making the best out of it."
