The Blue Jackets have laid a few eggs this season.

They could have filled a farm with their performance this afternoon.

Call it lethargic, call it disinterested, call it abysmal. It was all of the above.

In one of their more disturbing and ill-timed efforts, the Blue Jackets were run out of their own building by the Edmonton Oilers – yes, those Oilers – in front of another sold-out crowd of 18,000-plus at Nationwide Arena.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, two of the only worrisome players on the Oilers roster, somehow enjoyed a field day against the Blue Jackets, who seemed content to occasionally defend. Sergei Bobrovsky was lifted after four goals against through two periods and Joonas Korpisalo was in goal to ride out the rest of the game.

The Blue Jackets and their juiced-up lineup were unable to do anything against the Oilers this afternoon, which is almost as perplexing as some of their matchups and in-game decisions. For a team that wants to get in the playoffs and go on a deep run, there's no excuse for a listless outing like this one.

And the bad news is that it's not going to get any easier.

Injury Update

Ryan Murray remains out of the lineup due to an upper body injury and it will be a while before he returns. The Blue Jackets miss him dearly right now.
