After a clunk first game for Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine, it was going to be interesting to see how the team bounced back against a feisty Dallas Stars club.
It turns out, pretty darn well.

The Blue Jackets would start the game strong with a goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand that was more luck than anything else. The puck got past goaltender Anton Khudobin and it seemed to shock most on the ice. Regardless, the goal still counts no matter how it was scored. It set the tone for the team as they would continue to put goals on the board. Hometown kid Jack Roslovic would score as well and give the team a quick two-goal lead as they went into the first intermission.
While the first period was all Blue Jackets, despite giving up a fair amount of shots. The second period was more in the Stars' favor as they started it off with a power-play goal from Roope Hintz. The Stars' power play was as deadly as ever.
The Blue Jackets would bounce back after the goal in the second period with a goal from Patrik Laine, his first with the team. A backhanded shot no less.
The period would end with another goal from the Stars this time being scored by Jason Dickinson.
The final frame would have an important penalty kill for the Blue Jackets and a goal from Cam Atkinson who desperately needed to get off the snide. He was set up perfectly by Bjorkstrand. The Stars wouldn't give up though as forward Jamie Benn would score to make it a 4-3 game with just under ten minutes left in the final frame.
Despite a power play in the final two minutes for the Stars, the Blue Jackets would manage to hold them off to pull off a gutsy win.
