The Blue Jackets' best defenseman is back.
The club activated Zach Werenski off injured reserve Friday after he had missed the previous two games with a quad contusion he suffered from a hit by Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway.

In corresponding moves, the Blue Jackets designated forward Liam Foudy as non-roster and placed him on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. Additionally, they activated forward Jordan Dumais from the injured/non-roster list and loaned him to the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads.
In order to clear a roster spot for Werenski, the Blue Jackets had to give Foudy a non-roster designation. By placing him on waivers, the team clears his full $762,500 cap hit. The forward is in the final year of a two-year contract and is scheduled to be a restricted free agent after this season. He played in one NHL game this season and did not record a point.
Dumais entered the season with an upper-body injury and will return to Halifax where he won the QMJHL's MVP last season, posting 54-86--140 in 64 regular season games.
