Liam Foudy has been added to the Sport Chek World Junior Showcase, which occurs this July 28-Aug. 4 in Kamloops, British Columbia.
The Showcase is an eight-day tournament featuring Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States, comprising many of the top 1999 and 2000 birth-year players in the world.
The objective of the showcase is for these countries to get a feel for this crop of players and begin to evaluate which players may represent their country on the big stage - the IIHF World Junior Championship - which will be held the week after Christmas in Vancouver and Victoria, B.C.
#UPDATE | Liam Foudy, Markus Phillips and Akil Thomas added to Canadas #WJCShowcase roster; replacing Jordy Bellerive, Robert Thomas and Josh Brook, who are unable to participate in Kamloops due to injury.https://t.co/GL6HfgiAPY

Foudy is in good company. Canada splits into two squads for the majority of the tournament before combining towards the end, so the camp roster is large by international tournament standards. Of the 24 Canadian forwards invited, 11 are former first-round picks.
Foudy is the only Blue Jackets player on Team Canada's roster, but Emil Bemstrom (Sweden) and Sean Dhooghe (USA) will also compete in the showcase.
