Some folks who don't really know John Tortorella will serve you the same tired opinions about him: he's combustible, he's a jerk, he doesn't know what he's doing, etc.
The truth is that all of those are categorically false.
"Authentic" is probably the best way to describe Tortorella, who has an affinity for animal welfare and bonds with his players because he cares about things other than hockey. The same goes for Chris Cosentino, who coaches NYU's ACHA club hockey program and met Tortorella while he coached the New York Rangers.
FOX Sports Ohio's Dave Maetzold told the story of their relationship earlier this week, and how Tortorella made time to speak with one of Consentino's players, who interviewed him for a school project.
