After losing to the Edmonton Oilers in a big way on Tuesday, Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella took to 97.1 The Fan's airwaves with Anthony Rothman and Dave Biddle on "Carpenter and Rothman" to discuss all things Blue Jackets hockey and talk about the team at large.
Here are the three best quotes from Tortorella during another great segment.
"'How can he sit his top player? I'm looking into the future, we have 50-plus games left. People can criticize me...that's a crowded bus. Just jump on."
This quote was after being asked about Cam Atkinson's healthy scratch and how he was trying to get one of his top players going. As always, Tortorella brings a no-nonsense attitude with a hint of humor.
"I'm not going to sit there and try and control Dubi's emotions. That's when Dubi plays his best – when his emotions are right on that line."
Tortorella talked about Brandon Dubinsky's fight against Zack Kassian, and now, the repercussions that come with it.
"Very correctable. Because in sports, there are a lot of things we can't control and these are things that we can control."
There were three notes that Tortorella told his team after going over the game tape. He wouldn't divulge what they were, but let it be known that it's not something that can't be surmounted.
