John Davidson's got stories.
The Blue Jackets' president of hockey operations was once a highly-touted young goaltender in the 1970s, but had to retire before age 30 because of knee problems. He then got into broadcasting, which, in the team's latest "Carpool with the Captain," Davidson describes as something that just happened organically.
Davidson was one of the best hockey analysts to ever sit in the broadcast booth, and is a Hockey Hall of Famer because of his work. He enjoyed a long run calling New York Rangers games alongside Sam Rosen, and did extensive national TV work including Olympics, Stanley Cup Finals, and more.
He joined Nick Foligno to talk about music choices, long drives, an ill-fated beer commercial shoot during his playing days, early retirement and finding a second (and then third) career in hockey. The video is worth a watch.
