With all the preseason stories asking if Mateychuk has done enough to start the season with the Jackets, there has been a potentially more important roster battle going on. Has Jet Greaves moved ahead of Daniel Tarasov on the goalie depth chart? Greaves has certainly outplayed Tarasov in exhibition games. On the other hand, Tarasov has a larger salary and the Jackets have put a lot of effort into developing him. But that was the previous regime so Waddell and Evason aren't married to him becoming a starter. Finally, one must ask, will Greaves be better served as the starter in Cleveland or the back up in Columbus? I think it's guaranteed that, if Tarasov is put on waivers, someone will claim him.
