The Columbus Blue Jackets may be winding down their season, but the same cannot be said for top forward prospect Jordan Dumais.

Dumais, who was drafted in the third round, 96th overall, in last year's draft, is following up a record-setting season posting 54-86-140 (!) with a nice start in the playoffs, tallying 2-6-8 in four games as his #2 seed Halifax Mooseheads easily dispatched the #7 Cape Breton Eagles in the first round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) playoffs.

The 18-year-old's numbers this season are both incredible and also sobering. He outpaced the second most productive player on his junior club, 20-year-old Josh Lawrence, by 19 goals and 34 assists. But because of the NHL-CHL transfer agreement, it's QMJHL or NHL next season for Dumais. This could possibly stunt his growth because while it's clear that he's much too advanced for the QMJHL, there are concerns that despite his immense and obvious talent, he may not be ready for the NHL.

Blue Jackets Director of Player Development Rick Nash was quite complimentary of Dumais in a recent Bally Sports feature, saying "The one thing that impressed about his game was when he showed up to Traverse City (Prospects Tournament), and the tenacity that he had on the puck was incredible".

A reference to a quote attributed to 'The Great One' from Mr. Nash is a nice endorsement, too.

As the Blue Jackets season winds down, it's nice to see that players in the organization are playing a key role in their teams' postseason success.
