From a historical perspective, I went back a decade and looked at what was needed to gain the last wildcard spot in the east.
Bare minimum needed has been 85 once. Then a gap to 91 2x. What is interesting is, that half needed 95+. More on what is needed in the comments.
23/24 - 91 (needed all pts, won a tiebreaker)
22/23 - 92 (needed all pts, next highest was 91)
21/22 - 100 (next highest was 84, so 85 would have gotten in)
20/21 - Covid - different format (Looking at the 2 divisions that makeup the east now, the lowest pts was 64 in 56 games = 1.14 pts per game = 93.7 over 82 games.
19/20 - Covid - let 12 of 16 teams in
18/19 - 98 (needed 97)
17/18 - 97 (needed 97)
16/17- 95 (needed 95)
15/16 - 96 (needed 94)
14/15 - 98 (needed 97)
13/14 - 93 (needed 91)
