Rinse repeat.

Drew Doughty completed the comeback for the Los Angeles Kings, who overcame a 3-0 third-period deficit to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday at Nationwide Arena.

In their first overtime win of the season, the victory gives the Kings a 10-0-0 road record, tying an NHL record set by the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres.

Phillip Danault scored twice for the Kings, and Arthur Kaliyev scored.

Vladislav Gavrikov had two assists.

Matt Roy, Trevor Moore, Kevin Fiala, and Jaret Anderson-Dolan picked up assists.

Pheonix Copley made 26 saves.

Johnny Gaudreau had a goal and an assist for Columbus. Kirill Marchenko and Mathieu Olivier scored.

Adam Boqvist, David Jiricek, and Adam Fantilli added assists.

Elvis Merzlikins made 35 seasons.

Peeke played in his 200th career game. Patrik Laine and Erik Gudbranson missed the game due to illness. Cole Sillinger missed his second consecutive game and is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

A familiar friend was back in town.

New Look, New Power Play?

Among the points of focus for the Blue Jackets is their struggling power play. It's one game, but one goal for the unit is certainly nice.

Marchenko scored the first goal of the game at 9:07 of period one with assists to Boqvist and Gaudreau. Marchenko's eighth goal of the season moved him into a tie with Boone Jenner and Emil Bemstrom — Bemstrom is in Cleveland — for the team lead with three power-play goals.

6:38

We talk about it nearly every game.

After dominating for 40 minutes and entering the third period with a 3-0 lead, the Kings erased the deficit in the blink of an eye — three goals in 6:38.

Like Sunday, when the Blue Jackets had a 1-0 lead entering the third, Brad Marchand scored the first two goals for the Boston Bruins en route to the hat trick and win.

For the Kings, Danault had two goals in 5:08 before Kaliyev's tying goal by 6:38 of the third. L.A. outshot Columbus 15-7 in the third period, and Doughty ended it on the overtime's first shot at 33 seconds.

It's the sixth time in Kings history they've overcome a three-goal, third-period deficit.

Another Third Period Collapse

The Kings came into the night 9-0-0 on the road this season, looking to tie an NHL record with their 10th straight road win.

And they did it.

Columbus led 3-0 entering the final frame, only for the Kings to turn it on like every opponent seems to do against these Jackets on a nightly basis.

In situational play after two periods, the Blue Jackets are:

  • 6-1-3 when leading after two periods
  • 1-5-2 when tied after two periods
  • 0-3-1 when tied after two periods at home

Jody Shelley mentioned during the broadcast on Bally Sports Ohio that the Kings hadn't been behind in a game on the road since Oct. 27. It was the first time in eight games the Kings allowed more than two goals in a game.

On An Island

The Blue Jackets travel to Long Island to battle the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
