A signing of a different variety has taken place in training camp.
Forward John Mitchell has joined the Columbus Blue Jackets on a professional tryout (PTO). Mitchell was with the Chicago Blackhawks this camp before being released today and subsequently brought in by the Blue Jackets.

In 65 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche, Mitchell scored three goals and helped with four assists for a total of seven points. Before playing with the Avalanche, Mitchell played with the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mitchell posted a career-high 32 points during the 2013-14 season while playing in 75 games.
