It was a tight-checking game tonight for the Blue Jackets, but they managed to head back to Columbus with two points earned in Montreal. Here's the reaction from Blue Jackets Head Coach John Tortorella and some Blue Jackets players.
John Tortorella
On winning a close game like this: "Yeah, we found a way to win."
On offensive struggles: "It's obvious. We have a lot of guys struggling offensively. Thought the first two periods neither team really generated much and obviously [Sergei Bobrovsky] was the story in the third period to give us a chance. It's not one guy, it's four or five guys."
On having Bobrovsky in net to account for some of the offensive struggles: "It's the key to winning in the National Hockey League. Your goaltender has to do it. I mean a couple saves Bob made in the third period, and put that with the save he made in Detroit, it's a big reason why we're getting points. Right now I think the Columbus Blue Jackets own the best save of the year in the highlights, and the second best save of the year in the highlights."
On defenseman Zach Werenski's struggles: "He's fought the puck. There's not much conversation I have to have with a young man like him who understands it. He's just gonna play himself out of it."
Zach Werenski
On whether points matter: "I don't get mad if I don't score or get points, I get mad if I get chances and don't score."
On the game-winning goal: "[Cam Atkinson] made a great play finding me, knew I had some open ice, I didn't know how much time. When I looked up I realized there was no one there and had some time to look at what was open and found the low glove and it found its way into the net."
Sergei Bobrovsky
On his incredible third period save: "Sometimes it just happens, I can't explain. I just play by the moment and the moment dictated that play, so I'm fortunate that I made it."
