Atkinson had been on the injured reserve since Christmas after fracturing his right foot in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 23. Atkinson did finish the game after inadvertently blocking a shot from teammate Seth Jones, but the injury was diagnosed shortly thereafter.
This is some needed good news for the Blue Jackets, who are 4-6-1 in the 11 games Atkinson has missed.
In 32 games this season Atkinson averages 18:30 on the ice, with 13 points. He's tied for seventh on the team with six even strength goals in spite of the time he's been injured.
