The Columbus Blue Jackets had their first imposing game of the preseason, and they did it at one of the most compelling hockey venues in the United States.
Playing the Buffalo Sabres in Clinton, New York, during the Kraft Hockeyville event, it could have been used as an exhibition. Instead, the team came out and impressed especially a few key names.
The Fans
Multiple moments throughout the night allowed for Clinton, New York to shine brightly. Specifically, during the ceremonial puck drop and the standing ovation they gave both teams at the end of the game.
1st Period
Not much happened during the first only a couple of hits. Josh Anderson through a big one on a Buffalo Sabre and Brandon Dubinsky rubbed Sabre defenseman Rasmus Dahlin out against the wall giving him a bit of an elbow.
Second Period
The middle frame had much more scoring action as Sam Reinhart, and Casey Nelson provided the goals for the Sabres. Adam Clendening and Anthony Duclair provided the goals for the Blue Jackets. Duclair scored his on the power play to tie the game and Clendening did the same scoring the goal that tied the teams at two apiece.
Third Period
The final frame became the Artemi Panarin and Joonas Korpisalo show. Panarin scored on the power play, and Korpisalo added multiple highlight reel saves to his name. Forward Kevin Stenlund also added a goal to preserve the final score at 4-2.
