An early-season showdown of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche had a little more intrigue than before – this game featured the return of former Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert.
Before joining the Avalanche, Calvert had spent his entire career with the Blue Jackets, so this tribute video meant a little bit more.
In the video itself, you get a little bit of everything. You see the stellar moments like his game-winning playoff goals against the Penguins, and you also get his fight against Rick Nash. The most iconic of the bunch may well be the puck he took to his face. Later in that same game, Calvert would return and score the game-winning goal.
When the Blue Jackets needed a goal over the years, Calvert always seemed to be on the end of it. It was nice to see him honored in front of an enthusiastic crowd of Blue Jackets fans.
