There weren't many players in the NHL who had a better month of January than Elvis Merzlikins.
With the Blue Jackets on the fringe of the playoff race and their No. 1 goaltender (Joonas Korpisalo) down with a knee injury, the 25-year-old rookie Merzlikins stepped to the fore.
He was recently named the NHL's No. 2 star of the week after going 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average and .982 save percentage.
The Blue Jackets have gone 15-2-4 in their last 21 games and Merzlikins has started 10 of the last 11 games, helping them catapult from playoff hopeful to a team that no one wants to be playing right now. Check out the video above, compiled by the Blue Jackets, to see Merzlikins' best saves from the month of January – and there were quite a few of them.
