Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin has been released from the hospital and is now back at the hotel with his teammates, but will be unavailable for the remainder of the series against the Columbus Blue Jackets according to the Leafs.
After being transported to hospital following an on-ice collision last night, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin is back at the team's hotel.
Muzzin was discharged overnight but will not be available for the duration of its series versus the Columbus Blue Jackets as a result of his injury. He will remain in quarantine whithin the hotel and look to rejoin his teammates upon recovery.
Muzzin was injured late in the third period of his team's 3-0 win over the Blue Jackets Tuesday evening when his head collided with Oliver Bjorkstrand's knee in the corner.
The 6-foot-3, 214-pound defenseman was sent sprawling by a cross-check from Blue Jacket Pierre-Luc Dubois and appeared to get up after the collision with Bjorkstrand's, only to remain on the ice for nearly 15 minutes in an eerily silent Scotiabank Arena before he was removed from the ice on a stretcher.
Here's another look at the hit from Pierre-Luc Dubois that led to Jake Muzzin's injury. Should it have been called a penalty? Probably. Was it dirty? Not likely.

Shortly after the game Tuesday evening, the Maple Leafs announced that Muzzin was transported to a nearby hospital and that he was alert and able “to move all limbs.”
Muzzin spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Kings before arriving in Toronto by trade in January 2019. He played 53 games for the Leafs in the 2019-20 season scoring six goals and recording 17 assists. Following the 2018-19 season, his first in Toronto, Muzzin finished tied for 11th in voting for the Norris Trophy.
The Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs will meet for Game 3 Thursday night at 8 p.m.
