The Blue Jackets' first draft pick in 2022 has been called up.
The club announced that it recalled defenseman David Jiricek, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, from the AHL's Cleveland Monsters.
In a corresponding move, the club placed Adam Boqvist on injured reserve with a broken foot that they expect will sideline him for six weeks.

Boqvist left Tuesday night's 6-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes after blocking a shot.

Jiricek has posted four assists in five games for Cleveland this season and scored five goals and 11 points in 29 games for HC Plzen (Czechia) in 2021-22.
