The Blue Jackets announced Tuesday that they signed 22-year-old forward Yegor Chinakhov to a one-year, one-way extension for the 2023-24 NHL season. The Athletic's Aaron Portzline reported that his salary/cap hit will be $800k.

“Yegor has shown great improvement this season despite missing considerable time over the past few months due to injury,” Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. “He is a talented player with a great work ethic and desire to improve, and we are very excited about his future with the Blue Jackets.”
The 21st overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Chinakhov has scored 11-16--27 in 92 games with Columbus since debuting in the 2021-22 season. He's played just 30 games this season, posting 4-9--13, after suffering an ankle injury on December 19.
Chinakhov was scheduled to be a 10.2 (c) RFA, meaning he could only negotiate with the Blue Jackets during free agency. He will be an RFA again when this contract expires.
