The Columbus Blue Jackets are reportedly bringing Stefan Matteau to training camp on a professional tryout.
The 29-year-old was out of the NHL last year, splitting time between the top pro leagues in Sweden and Germany.

The Blue Jackets front office has familiarity with Matteau, as he played 27 games between the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons in Columbus, where he posted a modest 3-1-4 stat line.

Matteau figures to be a depth piece that could slot into a fourth-line role. Still, it could be an uphill battle for the veteran, as the Blue Jackets have a crowded depth chart. In 92 career NHL games with the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights, Blue Jackets, and Colorado Avalanche, Matteau has tallied 6-5-11.
