The Blue Jackets activated Damon Severson off injured reserve after a 15-game absence due to an oblique injury and placed Nick Blankenburg on IR retroactive to Dec. 19.
Per @JacketsInsider, the #CBJ will activate Damon Severson (oblique) off injured reserve after a 15-game absence and he'll play tonight vs. #LeafsForever. The Blue Jackets' roster is currently full, so they'll have to make a corresponding move to make room for Severson.

The club lists Blankenburg as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
In 19 games this season, Severson has posted 3-5--8 with a +1 rating while playing 20:54 per game. The 29-year-old is in his first season as a Blue Jacket after Columbus acquired him via a sign-and-trade and inked him to an eight-year, $6.25M AAV deal.
Blankenburg has failed to register a point in six NHL games this season and suffered an injury in the team's win over Buffalo on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has also posted 3-8--11 in 16 AHL games in 2023-24 after playing just 36 NHL games last season due to injuries.
Severson will return to the Blue Jackets lineup as they host the Maple Leafs on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on Bally Sports Ohio.
