Kent Johnson scored his fifth goal in his last 12 games but the Boston Bruins beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Tuesday.

1st Period

While both teams failed to score in the first period, Spencer Martin outplayed Linus Ullmark in terms of the degree of difficulty of the saves he made.

The Blue Jackets outshot Boston 12-5 in the first period.

2nd Period

Kevin Shattenkirk opened the scoring at 2:12 with a slapshot from the top of the right circle.

Johnson tied the game with his sixth goal of the season at 4:06 when he ripped a wrist shot from the slot past Ullmark.

James van Riemsdyk gave Boston a 2-1 lead on the power play at 13:07 when he deflected Hampus Lindholm's point shot past Martin.

Boston took a 2-1 lead into the third period and led 18-15 in shots on goal.

3rd Period

Danton Heinen doubled Boston's lead at 7:29 after David Jiricek's pass hit a skate and found van Riemsdyk, who put a shot on net for Heinen to finish.

Trent Frederic extended Boston's lead at 15:53 on the rush with a shot from the right circle thanks to a feed from van Riemsdyk.

With the 4-1 loss, the Blue Jackets fell to 12-19-8.
