The Hurricanes claimed former Blue Jackets goalie Spencer Martin off waivers on Friday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

In 13 games with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24, Martin posted a 3-8-1 record along with a 3.65 GAA, an .887SV%, and -4.7 goals saved above expected, per moneypuck.com.

The Blue Jackets placed Martin, who is in the last year of a two-year, $762.5K AAV contract, on waivers on Thursday. His contract will no longer count against their salary cap.

The Blue Jackets now have two goalies on their roster: Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov.
