Johnny Gaudreau is giving back by joining Patrik Laine's "Laine Gives Back" program, donating $1,000 for each point he scores for the remainder of the season--starting from Tuesday's game--in support of men's mental health services and programs, the team's release said.
“When I saw he was doing that to start the season, I thought it was awesome," Gaudreau said after Tuesday's game. "I thought it was a great cause. Then he happened to go into the program to deal with stuff like that, so I thought what better way to support him than pick up where he left off and try to help out in any way I can? We miss Patty and we hope he’s doing well and we hope to see him back soon.”
Laine has been in the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance Program since Jan. 28.

“Mental health is a very important issue, and one that is personal for Patrik," Gaudreau said in the team's release. "So I am happy to be able to support my teammate and the work that the OhioHealth Foundation is doing in support of men that are struggling in our community."
