James Malatesta, the Blue Jackets' fifth-round pick in 2021, continues to add to his trophy case.
He scored a goal in the second period of the Memorial Cup Final to help the Quebec Remparts defeat the Seattle Thunderbirds to win the Memorial Cup.

With five goals over four games in the tournament, Malatesta was named the Memorial Cup MVP.

Malatesta also captured the QMJHL Playoff MVP after posting 14-6--20 in 18 games. The 19-year-old scored 37-29--66 in 55 regular season games.

He'll be the fifth player to win it after being drafted by #CBJ and seventh to win it with CBJ holding their rights. Three others won it before being CBJ draftees.
It looks like the Blue Jackets may have gotten a steal in Malatesta.
