I'm not one to try to predict roster moves. What this post is about is who, in my opinion, are the keepers on the Jackets' current roster.
Goalies:
Elvis (starter)
Tarasov (Cleveland)
Defensemen:
Zach, Gavvy, Peeke (Jackets)
Christiansen (Cleveland most likely, possibly Jackets)
Blankenburg (Too few games played to accurately place, but an intriguing resign)
Forwards:
Bjorky, Chinakov, Danforth, Jenner, KJ17, Kuraly, Laine, Nuquist, Rosie, Silly, Tex, Jake (Jackets)
Guance, Meyer (Cleveland, 1st call-ups)
Marchenko (TBD in training camp)
Those not named are, in my opinion, trade options depending on the return. I like Berube as Tarasov's mentor in Cleveland, but I'm not married to the idea. Korpi, who has severely disappointed me, has played his last game for the Jackets and, potentially, in the NHL.
With the talent in the system, I would be looking for a defenseman with no more than 3 years on his contract. Other than that, I'm open to suggestion.
