Hello Friends, and those who are in mourning...
The CBJ collapse is troubling, especially how far down the cliff they fell after having a 4 point lead on the field for Wild Card 1, and were 4 points behind the Devils for 3rd after beating Detroit at the 'Shoe.
Why did it happen, especially when we finally got to full strength after the game?
Please share your thoughts, here are mine:
1. Goalies are not good enough (and Elvis especially) can't stand the heat when the intensity gets high (not trying to be harsh here).
2. Teams adjusted to the fact that Z ran the offense almost all season and game planned to take him out of the game, and the CBJ had no answers for it.
3. After the Detroit game the team saw many more #1 goalies than before, and the offense was not good enough to outscore (or even score against) teams with top drawer people in net.
4. Offense is lacking in the 3rd and 4th lines, and defense wasn't great either.
5. And finally... the biggest problem is the D-corps is just not good enough, meaning there will be big changes in the off season.
I have more thoughts, but I'd rather read yours. Thanks for your thoughts.
