History was made on Friday night in Columbus.
It was but a matter of time before Zach Werenski broke the Blue Jackets' all-time rookie scoring record.
On Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres, the 19-year-old phenom got it done. With an assist on Nick Foligno's go-ahead power play goal at 17:05 of the first period, Werenski recorded his 40th point of the season, surpassing Rick Nash's 39-point campaign during the 2002-03 season.

In what has become a historic season for the Blue Jackets, Werenski has been a huge part of the success. As we wrote about earlier today, he's got to be in the Calder Trophy discussion as the NHL's top rookie and has helped transform how the Blue Jackets play with his ability to break the puck out of trouble.
Werenski is on pace for a 50-point season and currently has 21 power play points (nine goals, 12 assists) in his first 66 games.
