Since the calendar flipped to 2024, it's clear what the Blue Jackets top line has been.
Johnny Gaudreau, Boone Jenner, and Jack Roslovic have been consistently together for the better part of the last two months and have been fantastic. Since Jan. 1, Gaudreau has posted 1-16--17 in 19 games, Jenner has recorded 5-3--8 in 13 games, and Roslovic has scored 2-7--9 in 18 games.
Since Jan. 27, Gaudreau has posted 1-12--13 in 10 games, Jenner has registered 5-3--8 in 10 games, and Roslovic has scored 2-5--7 in nine games.
The exclamation point of this line's success came in Sunday's 4-2 win over the red-hot Rangers as the trio combined for 1-3--4.
As shown in the chart below, this line has played together for longer in the past two months than the first three months of the season, and they've found success since Jan. 1.
Date | TOI | Shot Attempts For/Against | Shots on Goal For/Against | Scoring Chances For/Against | High-Danger Chances For/Against | Goals For/Against | Expected Goals For/Against |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Oct. 12-Dec. 31 | 79:40 | 87/105 | 42/44 | 44/41 | 18/14 | 4/7 | 4.00/4.29 |
Jan. 1-Present | 81:31 | 111/92 | 57/54 | 57/38 | 22/15 | 11/3 | 6.02/3.80 |
With Roslovic a likely candidate to be traded ahead of the March 8 trade deadline, it'll be interesting to see who fills that void if he's indeed moved. However, the timing of this line's success can only add to whatever Roslovic's trade value is.
In a lost season, it's promising to see two of the team's best players, Gaudreau and Jenner, playing at an elite level over the last two months.
