Werenski has been out of action since taking a hit from Washington's Alex Ovechkin in a 3-2 Blue Jackets loss to the Capitals on April 2.
The Grosse Pointe, Michigan native, who leads all rookie defensemen in scoring with 47 points, had missed the final four games of the regular season for the Blue Jackets.
Columbus and Pittsburgh hit the ice for game one Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
