The Columbus Blue Jackets notched a 2-1 comeback victory over the Florida Panthers at Nationwide Arena Thursday night, setting another franchise record along the way.
The win was the club's 26th home win of the season, as the Jackets improved to 26–9–1 at NWA, including wins in five-straight and seven of the past eight. The 26 wins topped the Blue Jackets' previous best for home wins in a season, set in 2008-09 (25–13–3).
“We go out thinking we're going to win.”– John Tortorella
Earlier this week, the Jackets set a team record for total wins and points in a season. With one more home win, Columbus will top the club record for points earned at home in a year, also set in 2008-09 (53).
“We go out thinking we're going to win. And I think that's the bridge that we needed to cross this year,” head coach John Tortorella said following the game. “Not hoping and let's see how it goes and let's see what the tempo of the game is—we go out and play. I think we expect to win.”
With 96 points, the Jackets find themselves two points off of the Washington Capitals for the best record in the NHL and the race for the Trophée des présidents. Columbus has 13 games remaining, while the Capitals have 12 in hand.
