One constant with the offseason is change.
The Buffalo News is reporting that Columbus Blue Jackets assistant general manager Bill Zito is in the running for the open Buffalo Sabres GM position. The Sabres fired general manager Tim Murray and head coach Dan Blysma late last week.
The 52-year-old is the assistant GM in Columbus and is GM for the Blue Jackets' minor-league team. The Cleveland Monsters, former known as Lake Erie, won the American Hockey League championship in 2016.
Zito joined Columbus in 2013 after helping found Acme World Sports, one of the top sports agencies. He played hockey for Yale and has a law degree from Wisconsin.
According to the report, Zito's name is one of many on the Sabres' wish list which includes former Los Angeles Kings general manager Dean Lombardi and current NBC color commentator Pierre McGuire.
