Pierre-Luc Dubois is one step closer to one of his big goals this season: playing in the Memorial Cup.
The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada finished off its semifinal series against the Charlottetown Islanders (sorry, George Matthews) on Saturday afternoon, punching their ticket to the President's Cup championship series with a 5-2 win in the game and 4-2 win in the series. The Armada takes on the winner of Chicoutimi-Saint John, a series led 3-2 by Saint John with Game 6 on tap tomorrow.
Charlottetown out-shot the Armada by a 33-19 margin in Game 6 this afternoon but couldn't get more than two goals on the board, and though the Islanders scored first, Blainville scored twice in the second period and three more in the third to pull away.
Dubois has been tremendous throughout the playoffs but was held off the scoresheet today. He finished with four scoring chances and was 8-for-17 in the face-off circle.
Fear not, though: Dubois' eight goals and 21 points in 15 playoff games to date make him the QMJHL's second-leading postseason scorer. He's been really good.
