One Blue Jacket name is off the board early.

Center Sam Gagner has agreed to a three-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The annual average value of the contract is $ 3.15 million.

Gagner returns to the Western Conference after playing with the Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes for eight seasons.

Gagner scored 50 points this past season including 18 goals and 32 assists. Those numbers put him as the fifth-leading scorer on the team.

He joined the team last offseason with a one-year, $650,000 contract and did a lot with the ice time given to him. He was especially potent on the power play where he posted 18 points.
