It hasn't been smooth sledding lately for Sergei Bobrovsky.
He's been in goal for some of more humbling efforts of the Blue Jackets' season.
And after John Tortorella had seen enough earlier this week, he started Joonas Korpisalo on New Year's Eve against the NHL's top team. A wake-up call? Perhaps, but Bobrovsky is a self-starter if there's ever been one. No one needs to remind him that he's not playing well.
It was fitting that, on Tuesday in Dallas, Bobrovsky's most important performance of the season was a milestone victory for him. He didn't need to be spectacular, but he was sharp early and also late in the game as the Blue Jackets held off the Stars for a 2-1 win, snapping a three-game skid in the process. Bobrovsky made 21 saves for his 19th win of the season.
Oh, the milestone? It was Bobrovsky's 200th career win, with 156 of them (regular season) coming in a Blue Jackets uniform. His career ledger stands at 200-118-33 in 354 starts in eight seasons, two in Philadelphia and the most recent six in Columbus.
"It's a good feeling and it's good to have the result," Bobrovsky said post-game, while showering his teammates with praise for playing a tight defensive game.
