The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy has a nominee from every team in the NHL. The Blue Jackets now have their nominee.
The Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA) from each NHL city nominates a player and the association then votes on the 31 nominees. The Columbus chapter has put forth Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski as its nominee.
The Columbus chapter of @ThePHWA is proud to announce Zach Werenski as the 2018 Blue Jackets nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded each year to the player that best demonstrates qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

From NHL.com on the trophy's description and purpose:
The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is an annual award under the trusteeship of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association and is given to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
Werenski came back this season after suffering a brutal facial injury during the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins. That injury would sideline him for the duration of the playoffs and the injury nearly threatened his vision.
Werenski has played in 73 games this season, scoring 14 goals and posting 20 assists for a total of 34 points.
