Artemi Panarin is good™.
But with each passing day, the winger who has carried the Columbus Blue Jackets all season, is proving just how valuable he is to the club by rewriting the record books.
With his goal and assist last night in Columbus' 7-3 win at Edmonton, Panarin now has 19 points in the month of March (8–11–19), good enough for the most points by a player in a single calendar month in Blue Jackets history.
The 19 eclipses the 18 Panarin scored in December and what David Vyborny logged in December 2006. “Bread Man” will have a chance to add to his record with two more games in March – Thursday night in Calgary and Saturday night in Vancouver.
Panarin has been hot for much longer than March, however. He has 9 goals and 12 assists in his last 15 games. He has 26 goals and 45 assists this season, good enough for 71 points – becoming just the fifth Blue Jacket to hit the 70 point milestone in a season. With five games remaining, Panarin is eight points off of Rich Nash's club record of 79 points, set in 2009.
