Only a few months now...
The NHL conducted its annual coordinated announcement of home openers on Wednesday afternoon. Within the noise was news that the Blue Jackets open their 2018-19 home schedule on Friday, Oct. 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
What else have we learned? The Red Wings' home opener is Oct. 4 against the Blue Jackets at Little Caesars Arena, so we can conclude that these are the first two games of the season for Columbus – a team that's become used to back-to-backs.
The complete 2018-19 schedule will be released Thursday afternoon.
