August is notoriously the most boring and uneventful month on the hockey calendar.
While players' training escalates, GMs, coaches and media types have treated to the lakes and cottages, soaking in the last bit of summer before training camps open in a few weeks.
But that doesn't mean it's completely silent on the home front; the Blue Jackets are gearing up by laying a fresh sheet of ice at the OhioHealth Ice Haus.

Ice technician Ian Huffman, one of the best in the business who's been called to work for the NHL on marquee events like the Winter Classic and Stadium Series, has one sheet installed and next up is the main ice with camp set to open in mid-September.
Players will start arriving in Columbus in the weeks ahead, and will likely skate in small informal groups at the Ice Haus before main camp begins.
