Surprise!
Well, kind of.
Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella told Anthony Rothman and Bobby Carpenter that Joonas Korpisalo will start their season opener tomorrow night in Detroit. Tortorella said he's committed to using both goaltenders on this season-opening back-to-back set, and he wants Sergei Bobrovsky to start the home opener at Nationwide Arena on Friday night.
Torts just broke with us @971CandR Korpi will start season in goal at Detroit. Bob will play home opener vs Carolina.#CBJ

Korpisalo figures to play a larger role in the Blue Jackets' goaltending plans this season, and giving him the season opener is a shot in the arm for a young goaltender.
