Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson had himself a week.
After an eight-point week that included the fifth hat trick of his career, the NHL announced Atkinson as its First Star of the week ending Nov. 18. The hat trick came in under two periods of work on Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, with Atkinson scoring three goals that helped the Blue Jackets to a 4-1 win.
Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks and Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks were the second and third stars, respectively.
Atkinson's five hat tricks are tied for the most in Blue Jackets history, and his next will move him past Rick Nash into the No. 1 spot all by himself.
