Welcome to the National Hockey League, Alexandre Texier.
Yesterday, the Blue Jackets announced that they had called up Texier from the Cleveland Monsters. He's not just there to watch, either. The French winger will wear #42, and is set to make his NHL debut tonight against the New York Rangers at 7:00 ET. It's a huge game for Columbus.
Thanks to SpecmenceCBJ on YouTube, the highlight video above of Texier's 2018-19 season in the Liiga is available for you to feast your eyes on. He led his team, KalPa, in points this season with 41 (14 goals and 27 assists).
After Texier's season with KalPa ended, he made his way over to the Cleveland Monsters — and put up some very impressive numbers (5 goals and 2 assists in 7 games). His body of work this season for these two teams is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you remember he is only 19(!!) years old.
He has a great opportunity to prove himself tonight, and possibly tomorrow if his debut goes well. It's an extremely high-pressure situation to throw a rookie into, and hopefully he'll be able to show off the talent and work ethic that earned him a spot on the Blue Jackets.
