The Columbus Blue Jackets have released their schedule for the 2021-22 season.
The Blue Jackets will begin their 21st season Thursday, October 14th, against the Arizona Coyotes.
Columbus will face the league's newest team, the Seattle Kraken, just two nights later. That game happens at Nationwide Arena on October 16th. The Blue Jackets will travel to Climate Pledge Arena for their first battle on the road with the Kraken on Saturday, December 11th. That kicks off a five-game road trip, Columbus' longest of the season.
The Blue Jackets have an unprecedented seven-game homestand from February 27th until March 13th, starting with the Penguins and ending with the Golden Knights.
The regular season will come to an end at Nationwide Arena on Friday, April 29th, against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Columbus has their first back-to-back November 12th and 13th, both games at Nationwide Arena against rivals Washington and the New York Rangers. Those make up two of the 16 back-to-backs on the schedule.
The Arena District will be bustling on two nights in particular: Saturday, October 16th and Saturday, October 23rd. The Blue Jackets will host Seattle (10/16) and Carolina (10/23), while the Columbus Crew have home games at nearby Lower.com Field. While subject to change, both kickoffs for the Crew are at 6:00 p.m. (Neither date has a home game for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, and the Columbus Clippers season will have already come to an end.)
In all, the Blue Jackets get ten Friday night games, including seven at home. There are 18 games scheduled for Saturday, with eight of those being at home. Enjoy them early, though: half of those eight games are before Thanksgiving, and there are no Saturday home games in the month of December.
