The Blue Jackets have their uniform partner.
In an announcement made Saturday, the team and Safelite Auto Glass announced the first uniform partnership in franchise history. Safelite's logo will adorn the Blue Jackets' sweaters beginning in the 2022-23 NHL season.
After the NHL announced it was green-lighting jersey patches for sponsors late last year, it seemed inevitable that clubs would move quickly to negotiate deals for their sweaters.
Not only is this a lucrative business deal for the Blue Jackets – a smaller-market team that needs an influx of cash after COVID-19 crushed revenues across the league – but it's a landmark moment for Safelite, a locally-headquartered company that's been a Blue Jackets partner for years.
Safelite was founded at a single location in Wichita, Kansas in 1947 and has grown to become the largest auto glass specialist company in the United States with more than 850 locations nationwide. The company is headquartered in Columbus and serves more than 6 million customers per year.
