The losing streak extends to five.

Rookie forwards Kent Johnson and Kirill Marchenko each scored a goal, but the Flyers beat the Blue Jackets 5-3 behind two goals from Travis Konecny at Wells Fargo Center Tuesday.

1st Period

The Blue Jackets top line generated two solid chances at 8:13 when Johnny Gaudreau was denied by Carter Hart on a shot from the right doorstep and at 8:16 when Johnson had a shot from the slot that was blocked by Ivan Provorov.

Owen Tippett had the first good chance for Philadelphia at 11:18 with a backhand shot that was denied by Daniil Tarasov.

Following a blocked shot by Johnson, Gaudreau generated another great scoring chance at 12:46 when he dangled around Scott Laughton and drew a hooking penalty before firing a shot wide from the left slot. The puck found Gustav Nyquist, who hit the crossbar from the high slot at 12:58.

Travis Konecny opened the scoring shorthanded at 13:48 with a curl-and-drag wrist shot from the right circle.

The Flyers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission with a 13-8 edge in shots on goal.

2nd Period

Marchenko tied the game at 5:58 when he deflected a left-point shot from Jake Christiansen.

Gaudreau nearly gave the Blue Jackets the lead at 8:17 with a wrist shot from a tight angle from the right side but it couldn't find its way in.

Johnson did give the Jackets the lead at 8:41 with a wrist shot from the left circle on a two-on-one with Patrik Laine that beat Hart to the low-glove side.

The Flyers took a 3-2 lead into the final period of regulation along with a 26-20 edge in shots on goal.

3rd Period

Konecny doubled Philadelphia's lead with his second goal of the night at 2:45 after a nice deke around Vladislav Gavrikov and a top-shelf backhand shot from the left slot.

Andrew Peeke cut the deficit in half with a wrist shot from the right circle that beat Hart to the high-blocker side at 11:11 after skating up the ice upon receiving a nice outlet pass from Jack Roslovic.

The Blue Jackets pulled Tarasov with 1:59 remaining but Tippett scored his second of the night to extend the lead to 5-3 at 18:41.

The 5-3 score would hold as the Blue Jackets fell to 10-20-2.
